FAQ (Frequently asked questions)

ABOUT THE CLASSES

The Ocean Rx's official mascot

  • Do I need to sign up in advance or can I show up the day of class?

  • What do I need for Beach Yoga?

    • A towel, yoga mat and H20. Feel free to bring yoga blocks to use. We sometimes have some handy if you need them.

  • Are your Beach Yoga and SUP Yoga classes for beginners?

    • Classes are intended for students of all levels. All classes are sequenced with options to modify poses up or down to accommodate those who consider themselves beginner to more advanced yogis.

  • Do I need to know how to do yoga or Standup Paddle board (SUP) to take your class?

    • Heck no! Come one come all. If you've never taken yoga or never stepped foot on a SUP, we would still invite you to try. All classes are tailored to fit all yoga levels. We also provide a SUP Basic Overview before you step foot in the water to ensure you feel comfortable. If you're still "iffy" about giving this a try, e-mail us directly!

  • Do I need to know how to swim?

    • Yes, you do need to know how to swim for SUP Yoga. If you aren't the best swimmer, we advise you to book a private class to ensure more 1-on-1 supervision.

  • There's no way I can do all of that crazy yoga stuff! Why would I come?

    • No matter the age or skill level, there is almost nothing more invigorating than being on the water surrounded by nature's beauty. Even if you come and decide "I'm perfectly comfortable laying on my back looking at the sky for 90 minutes," rest assured it will be the most relaxing and empowering moment of your day.

Day of YOUR Class

  • What is the parking situation?

  • How early should I arrive?

    • If this is your first SUP Yoga class, please arrive 15-20 minutes before class begins. This allows time for check in and a SUP Fundamental overview (Paddlefit Intro). Please note, this intro is a requirement.

    • If this is not your first class, please arrive a few moments early to check in and get your equipment and rentals ready for class.

  • What if I want to take pictures on my SUP?

    • We highly suggest leaving cameras and phones behind in fear of losing them "overboard." We will do our best to snap Instagram worthy pictures throughout the entire class.

  • What do I need to bring with me for SUP Yoga?

    • We will have a limited number of dry bags available for use, but suggest leaving valuables behind.

    • Your SUP Yoga instructor will be able to store your car keys.

    • We will not have a place for you to store any other items that you don't want wet -- so please plan accordingly.

    • We suggest packing these items and taking them with you on the board:

      • Water bottle

      • Sunscreen

      • Hat/Visor

      • Sunglasses

      • Towel (for post-class)

  • What do I wear?

    • Whatever you are comfortable in!

    • Whether that be yoga/gym clothes or a bathing suit. However, stay away from cotton. Dry-fit material clothing is highly suggested.

  • What if the weather isn't great?

    • Classes will only be cancelled in conditions of extreme winds, lightening and/or torrential downpours.

      • If this happens, you will be notified via email/text the morning of and refunded for the cancelled class.

    • If it is drizzling or raining the day of your class, we're still paddling. We simply suggest a light rain jacket/hat. It's a pretty amazing experience to practice during a light rain shower!
